Budget Chef ("we," "our," or "the app") helps you plan meals, track nutrition, and manage grocery lists. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Information we collect

• Account information: email address and authentication credentials when you create an account.
• Profile data: height, weight, age, sex, activity level, fitness goals, dietary preferences, cuisine preferences, and weekly budget you provide during onboarding.
• App usage data: meals you generate or log, grocery lists, pantry inventory, nutrition logs, and saved recipes.
• Subscription status: plan type and trial/subscription state (processed via Apple and RevenueCat when enabled).
• Usage analytics & diagnostics: anonymized product analytics (screens viewed, features used) and crash/error reports, tied to a random identifier. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How we use your data

• Generate personalized meal plans and grocery lists tailored to your goals and budget.
• Track your nutrition and pantry inventory.
• Provide and improve the app experience.
• Process subscriptions and account management.

Third-party services

• Supabase: authentication and database hosting. Data is stored securely in Supabase's cloud infrastructure.
• OpenAI: powers AI meal and grocery list generation. API requests include your profile and pantry context. OpenAI does not use API content to train its models.
• Apple: handles in-app purchases and subscriptions when you subscribe through the App Store.
• RevenueCat: manages subscription status (when enabled).
• PostHog: product analytics that help us understand how features are used so we can improve the app. Events are associated with a random identifier, not sold, and not used for advertising.
• Sentry: crash and error monitoring. Reports include device and error details so we can fix bugs.

Data retention & deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent.
